I first saw this cat when she was just a couple of weeks old. She’s a street cat, and I used to see her mum carrying her and the rest of the litter from place to place last spring. They’d usually end up in one of the neighbourhood parks, where there are lots of hiding places.
There were five kittens in all, but she was the most distinctive, because all her brothers and sisters are completely black, black and white, or completely ginger.
Anyhoo, I’ve been seeing her around a lot recently and, for a street cat, she’s pretty relaxed. Mind you, she’s a bit skittish if I get too close, so I haven’t tried to stroke her yet in case I get a claw in my eye.
But… last weekend, she followed me home and came into the house! Can you believe it?
I opened a tin of tuna and she ate what she wanted, cleaned her paws, and left! And she came back again yesterday. She’s not skinny, and she looks healthy, so I don’t think she’s wanting for food, it’s just really strange how she’s latched on to me.
Anyway, it seems that her favourite place to sit is on the wall at the end of the road, so that’s where I took a picture of her.
I know very little about cats, but I’m told she’s a Calico, so I’ve called her Callie. Obvious choice, I know!
Isn’t she gorgeous? I think I’m in love. ❤️
