We’ve adopted a dog!
Well, we’re actually only fostering her at the moment — it’s a trial period to see if we suit each other, but I knew she suited us the moment I saw her, so there’s no chance of her going back to the shelter. She’s here for keeps now, unless she decides she can’t stand us!
We’ve had her for two weeks and she’s adorable. Her name is Lua, which is Portuguese for ‘moon’, so I’m told, and she’s about four years old, we think.
She was rescued after someone saw her while she was VERY heavily pregnant (she had a litter of 17, can you believe?) and was looking for somewhere to have her pups. Thank goodness that person contacted the animal shelter, because a team went to rescue her and her babies and took them to a safe place.
Unfortunately, not all the pups survived but the eight that did have all been adopted. Lua was the last one still looking for a forever home, and now she’s found it!
When we first took her, she was scared of everything, so it’s going to take time for her to get used to us, but she’s getting a little more confident every day. Very slowly, though.
She has a few things wrong with her, which the shelter are still treating her for, but we’re so happy to have another fur friend after losing our other two, Hattie in 2015 and George in 2020.
I feel like we’re a proper family again — happy days!
